However, again we do not think that a very much greater standard of accuracy then this is essential, but we think that the error should certainly not exceed ±2ºC.

(3) We are at a loss to understand your difficulty as regards adapting your bulb to fit our cylinder head.

We would make it clear that we do not wish your bulb to fit into our union. We wish it to replace the union, i.e. if you will put the thread we have requested on your bulb, it will fit our cylinder head without any trouble. We believe that the external diameter of your present thread is practically identical with that of the one which we require while the depth of our thread is less. Hence there is no question of reducing the size of the internal mechanism.

We discussed this point with Reigate and have agreed that no difficulty existed.
