ORIGINAL TO [Stamped: HA.] H.S.) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} SECRET. R1/M27. 3. 24. Copy to [Stamped: C.J.] [Stamped: W.D.] [Stamped: H.I.] E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. re. SERVO. [Handwritten: V9910] It will be understood that we do not now need the servo with external ratchet. We are not making the servo with swivel plates until we find this is really required. [Crossed out: We ought not to require an adjustment through the frame.] [Handwritten: Better not to make this so convenient as to be continually changed.] I am hoping and expecting this adjustment only to need attention every 20,000 miles. Apparently the adjusting nut cannot be unscrewed without some special tackle. Perhaps this is good when necessary. The whole servo might be taken down and out. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
