FRICTION LOSSES IN WW. SLOW SPEED PLATE SERVO.

Tests were made on this servo to estimate the proportion of friction. As was suggested, the gain was taken with gradually increasing and decreasing pedal loads between 30 and 150 lbs. on the pedal.

The following results were obtained :-

| Equivalent pedal press: lbs. | Torque output for - Applied torque |
|---|---|
| | Increasing loads. | Decreasing loads. |
| 29.2 | 1.90 | 3.39 |
| 53.5 | 1.81 | 2.49 |
| 78 | 1.74 | 2.08 |
| 102.2 | 1.66 | 1.87 |
| 127 | 1.58 | 1.68 |
| 151.5 | 1.54 | 1.54 |

Of the values given one unit is due to the applied torque.

A test is being arranged to test the efficiency of the servo with pins placed at as large a radius as possible in place of the existing dogs.
