HUMPHREY SANDBERG FREEWHEEL. Farnborough have been thinking around the application of the Humphrey Sandberg freewheel for application to: (a) Single cylinder test bed work; (b) For the supercharger drive. In case (a) there are advantages in providing a one-direction drive. In case (b) they are of the opinion that its incorporation in conjunction with slipping clutches will considerably ease the stresses on both the crankshaft and rotor gears. Also in some instances where the throttle is closed followed by a quiet opening up, the overrun of the impeller will assist the acceleration of the engine. They are satisfied that this device will not stand any slip and therefore cannot be considered as a clutch replacement. Lr. {Mr Ellor} | ||
