| To Bly.{B. W. Bleaney - Bentley Sales} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KT.1.11.33. With reference to Bly.{B. W. Bleaney - Bentley Sales}19/HEM.30.10.33. (a) The gear lever position can be dealt with as on R.R. cars. The final Bentley lever is better than the ones fitted to the first fifteen cars. (b) We have found the dipping reflector to be satisfactory for fog driving. (c) There is a tendency for the saloon cars to be worse for drumming than cars with the fabric head such as close coupled coupes. We are investigating this both from a chassis and coachwork point of view. (d) The criticism with regard to skidding is quite unjustified. The car which Mr.Hopps tried at Derby in a thunderstorm, happened to be fitted with smooth rear tyres, due to it having run a test at Brooklands on the previous day. We explained this to Mr. Hopps after the run, but he has probably forgotten, or perhaps does not believe us as he did not see the tyres.
