X9410 SECRET. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}9/M18/9/24. To-[strikethrough]BJ[/strikethrough]- from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} " " Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} - " " At a conference held on Tuesday, 16th inst. at which were present R, CJ, BJ and myself, it was pointed out by CJ. that it was of great importance that we should have cars fitted with six brakes, ready to demonstrate to Press men before the opening of the Exhibition at Olympia on the 16th October, a month hence, and that therefore it might be necessary for Sales to absorb for this purpose the first few sets of springs of 12 3/4%, which are made, in accordance with R's requirements. I note that Mr.Whitehead states he thinks it will take four weeks to get springs, I do hope, however, that it will be possible to get a sufficient number of springs from Woodheads with the number of plates required by R.{Sir Henry Royce} with the .285 top plate, before the end of this month. I do hope that Mr.Whitehead will be able to persuade Woodheads to get us these springs, because it is most important we give these demonstrations to the Press and others.
