Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. 25th.January 1937 [Handwritten]: WsT For the attention of Mr.West. Dear Sirs, We confirm conversation this afternoon at our Works when the question of trips on A.T.Speedometers was discussed, on the lines of our reply to Mr. Harvey Bailey's letter of the 19th.inst.copy of which is attached hereto. Further to this letter it was agreed that we should go forward with the modification of our trip rollers to increase the diameter of the housing portion so as to give greater bearing surface. This we anticipate will be through in 4 weeks. The question of weaker springs being fitted behind the star wheels was also discussed, and immediately the complete modifications are brought in incorporating the brass star wheel engaging in the first roller and the increased diameter on the wheel housing, a sample instrument will be despatched to you for your test and approval. A cheaper bezel on the Bentley instrument was also mentioned with the prospect of cheapening the instrument. As pointed out this was a very difficult fitting owing to the restriction of the glass heights etc., and the means by which the instrument is illuminated. However, we are looking into this to see what possibilities there are for reducing this cost. Always at your service. Yours faithfully, pp. A.T.Speedometer Co.,Ltd., [Signature] A.G.Arrowsmith | ||
