S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}..from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} HP. X7960 PN.{Mr Northey}1/WTS.9.33. Independent Air Vent Pipes fitted to Chassis 20-MY and GRW-32. RC.{R. Childs} reports as follows :- "The above were fitted to both chassis to prevent petrol fumes from entering the coachwork. In the case of GRW-32, it was difficult to fill tank with petrol from the pump, owing to continual air locking. When the tank was completely full there were signs of syphoning. The pipe has been removed and tank is standard now. The tank of 20-MY is very difficult to fill especially the last three or four gallons, owing to air locks. I have had a note from Fraser saying it takes three or four minutes to put this amount in, as it has to go in slowly, otherwise it overflows over the top of the filler. No report from him regarding syphoning. It would appear that the copper piping is too small, as when the job was fitted the pipe was carried in an upward position, above its seating on the tank". I shall be glad to have your remarks or further suggestions please. LID{A. J. Lidsey} PN.{Mr Northey} See me HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
