X235 X5520 One of the complaints that have been made about the hydraulic shock absorbers is that they cannot be adjusted to suit customers requirements. A new design has been produced to overcome this difficulty. In the meantime, however, we consider that it may assist the Repair Department if they are allowed to adjust the high pressure loading of the dampers within small limits. The spring dictating the high pressure load is easily accessible and the load can be adjusted by changing this spring. We recommend that in difficult cases the Repair Dept. may reduce the high pressure load to 40 lbs. on the front and rear of the 20 HP. The 40/50 front shock absorbers cannot be altered because of high speed wobbles. Under these circumstances we do not consider the rear should be altered from the standard setting either. We think that cadmium plated springs will undoubtedly help the 40/50 complaints. We do not recommend that alteration to the loading of the 20 HP. dampers should be made away from the Works.
