1133 To HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/MH.{M. Huckerby}18.10.39. EXPERIMENTAL CAR WORK. It was agreed at a Chassis Conference held on Monday, October 16th., that the 4-cylinder engines which have been drawn should be designed, produced and tested on the road, so that they are available for production at the cessation of hostilities. Detail drawings are being completed for the 2.8 litre engine forthwith. When completed it will be fitted to chassis 14.B.V. We think that as it has been decided that a certain amount of car work must continue, a skeleton fitting section should be allotted to this job similar to the test section which is being run, and that the car Stores which it was proposed to remove to Shardlow, should be left where it is. It will be necessary to make at least two 2.8 litre 4-cylinder engines as one will be required for carburetter development work. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
