Dear Sir,

Re Rolls-Royce "Eagle" Engines 330/360 HP.

We suggest that the above engine should be tried on a seaplane exactly as it is arranged at present, as regards compression etc. to give the full 360 HP. This trial should take place as soon as possible, because it may be necessary to slightly reduce the compression ratio. It is understood that the engine will generally be running with the throttle three-quarter open. For this reason it is desirable to keep the compression ratio as high as possible for the sake of fuel economy and extra power for getting off the water. X.2295.
If you approve, would you kindly advise us where this trial engine should be sent.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
(Sgd) F.H. Royce.
Chief Engineer.
