Major Bird,
Messrs Armstrong Whitworth Ltd.,
Close Works,
Gateshead-upon-Tyne.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your letter of the 5th. July, with reference to your gun boring equipment.

In addition to our .5 barrels we have on order a small number of 40 mm. barrels with exactly the same rifling as the Bofor, which, we understand, you will eventually produce.

We would only ask you to do 25 barrels for us to help us over the stage where our own equipment is being delivered. We have the material waiting for the machines.

We therefore trust that you will forgive us contacting you again from time to time to see whether the position has changed and whether by any chance, you can bore and rifle these barrels for us.

Yours truly,
