SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} went through the troubles in France as reported by Hancock.

A). Petrol boiling.- This was discussed and it was reported that W. were moving as much of the petrol system outside the bonnet as possible, exactly where it was being put was not mentioned. The front grill is being removed in the hope that the temperatures under the bonnet will be lower.

B). Inaccessibility of Plugs.- This will be improved by the change of carburettors.

C). Rattle in Timing Case:- Insufficient information at present available.

D). Oil leak into Clutch Pit.- W. anticipate this is easily cured.

E). Oil Cooler Failure.- Another design is being adopted.

F). Valve breakage.- This is a drilled up valve. The evidence of the cause has been largely destroyed. The Aero Engine valves stand much more than this so there should be no difficulty in overcoming this trouble.

G). Gear Box.- Synchro-mesh operation poor. Gearbox not too quiet. These are not inherent faults. Loss of oil from gearbox is to be investigated.
