84425 Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/MJ. 20th. April 1932. Messrs. Lodge Plugs Ltd., RUGBY. For the attention of Mr. Bernard Hopps. Dear Sirs, Car Plugs. We have just recently discovered that C.3 plugs which we are using as standard on our 40/50 cars, will not run satisfactorily on magneto. We find that the old C. plug is very much better in this respect. We should like to have your personal opinion as to the respective merits of these two plugs as regards internal construction. If you think the C.3 plug is a much better plug than the C. plug, then we shall have to take further steps to alter it so that its slow running is satisfactory. With regard to the 14 mm. plugs. We note your remarks on the A.15. We cannot say anything about the matter of price because we always avoid financial arguments, but we do think it would be worth your while to make an alternative to the A.15 to improve its slow running and submit a set to us for test. This plug has every indication of being a very excellent article, and we believe should not require very much modification to make it suitable for car work. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
