We have duly received the blue print of drawing No.LeC.1077., the drawing of which was to be completed by Mr Pottinger in Derby. We find, however, that although castellated teeth have been shewn in the end view for engaging the driving and driven plates of the friction device, no provision has been made for progressive engagement of the driving plates with the drum, and no diagrams given illustrating the stages and magnitudes of the increasing load on the shock damper arm. Could you kindly arrange therefore to get this scheme completed in Derby, in respect to the important feature indicated, and submit it to Mr Royce for criticism. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
