To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X260 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}30/KW. 4.12.35. 4-B-IV - Lp{Mr Lappin}'s Car. We now wish to try out a rubber mounting for the petrol pump on the above car. Will you please have drawn up and made a suitable rubber for the Bentley as quickly as possible, Durometer hardness 60. If, however, there is insufficient time for the rubber to be made before 4-B-IV goes away, we suggest that a SpectreCodename for Phantom III type rubber D.75221 is used, in which case it will be necessary to drill two holes in the rubber to accommodate the Bentley pump base, as the base boss centres are different from those of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III. We also suggest that when making up the mounting for Bentley, arrangements are made for small distance pieces to be fitted in the holes of the mounting and so save distorting the rubber when the bolts are tightened down.
