To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} +260 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KW.5.12.35. Fabroil Timing Gears on the Bentley. Production are finding that the Fabroil gears on the Bentley are much easier to produce than the present standard gear, and therefore they want to go ahead with them. You have now got Lappin's car stripped which has done about 56,000 miles, and the gears look to be in very good condition. Will you please, however, put the crankshaft back into the crankcase, together with the bearings, and after allowing for bearing wear, measure the backlash in the gears, so that we can get some idea of the total wear which has taken place. This is such an interesting engine owing to the mileage it has run, that when the Inspection Report has been prepared we should like to see the pieces laid out and go over them with the Inspection Report.
