2. passenger. By means of lever lengths it is arranged that the angle of the front wheels is multiplied by 5 to 8, so that large; readable needle movements are obtained. The car is placed on a "Bean" axle alignment stand, with the front wheels on turntables which indicate wheel angle in degrees. By turning the front wheels a chart is obtained showing angle on indicator plotted against [strikethrough: angle] mean angle of the front wheels. This is a calibration chart for the particular installation. A transit is mounted [inserted: centrally] in the rear of the car and braced in place by wires. The distance of this transit ahead of the rear axle is measured. with the car going straight on a flat surface this transit is sighted straight ahead and a sticker is placed | ||
