Dear Mr. Robotham,

Thank you for your letter of the 23rd inst., and I was sorry to have missed you when I was at the Works last week. Actually I went to your office but, apparently, you were away that day. I should have liked to have talked to you fully in regard to the bearing material.

I suppose Mr. Hives told you that in our discussion he explained that he does not want the Rolls Royce organisation to be mixed up in the sales and testing, and that his suggestion was that we should have one of your Engineers here, and that we should do the contacting, having, as I know we shall, all the help possible from the Rolls Royce organisation. I thought it a very good idea, and have commenced work on these lines.

I am very pleased to learn that you are getting in touch with Rovers and Vauxhall's direct, as I understand that you are very friendly with these people, and I only mention the above arrangement so that we shall know exactly where we are.

As soon as you have arranged a meeting, I shall be glad to come up and do my utmost to relieve you of any anxiety arising out of the tests. I am certain that if success is to come out of these bearings it must be engineered on the right lines, and I shall take the strongest action in preventing any material getting to a firm which is not willing to adopt and work to the recommendations.
