Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 1020 23rd July, 1937. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Devereux, Esq., High Duty Alloys Ltd., 8. Trading Estate, Buckingham Avenue, SLOUGH. Dear Devereux, Mr. Hives has asked me to write you re our bearing material. With a view to starting this job moving, we are proposing to get in touch with Rovers and Vauxhall's next week, and try to get them to come here where we have all our bearing exhibits, talk the matter over, and then start them off on a programme running the alloy. We should like you to be in at these discussions as, of course, once we have got the tests started we do not want to be bothered with the job further. As I believe Mr. Hives has pointed out to you, we feel that the bearings have had to be engineered into the power units, and with this job in view we are proposing to allocate one of our testers to keep in continuous touch with the work, and make recommendations to anybody who runs the bearings. I will let you know when Rovers and Vauxhalls can come over to see us, and, in the meantime, if there are any periods in particular when you will not be available, I should be much obliged if you would let me know. Yours sincerely, | ||
