Re: Briggs. S. Cunningham, Esq.

I am attaching a copy of a letter received from the above this morning. He has since called in here this afternoon and we had a chat. Evidently Lagondas sent down a car for him to drive up to their works and he spent considerable time this morning discussing with W.O. Bentley a number of points in connection with a new car. Apparently they are prepared to go to any lengths to build a car such as he will require, even if it means a special chassis. They are preparing drawings for him to see which W.O. is taking down to show him this coming weekend at home. At first I thought he had already placed his order but he would not do so until he sees the plans.

He has actually left his Bentley with them and then he left here he gave me the assurance that he would not complete the purchase until he had discussed the matter with you. I therefore think that you are our only chance of getting him on to a Bentley, although quite frankly I think it would be a mistake to push him on to a Streamline car as it is to-day. He wants a special two-seater. He is still proposing to leave his Bentley with Lagondas until the matter is settled. He is proposing to keep his appointment with you on the 10th instant.
