S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}..from PN.{Mr Northey} PN.{Mr Northey}12/WT19.2.32. 8766 The enclosed letter from Baron von Boecklin, Zurich, obviously requires very careful dealing with in view of the fact that he states that if there is any evidence of boiling he would not wish to own our car. It would be a help if you would let us know how far you think we are justified in going in this case in refuting any suggestion that boiling may take place. For instance, in the height of summer would you expect to take a "Phantom II" of present production over the Stelvio at any speed or on any gear that was considered desirable and justifiable without at any time reaching boiling point ? If you do not think this would be possible then we may have to deal with the matter by saying that the boiling point might be reached but would be maintained for only so short a time that a serious loss of water was not likely to be risked, although I think if we had to make this statement we should lose this order. I should be glad to have any remarks you can make on this matter so that we can reply at latest on Monday evening. Please return the original letter. PN.{Mr Northey} LID{A. J. (76-JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} onwards) Present production has just reached 75 although some chassis prior to that number have not yet been allocated. If a customer places an order he should be allocated a number above 84 J.S. to ensure getting new radiator. | ||
