We send herewith N.sch. 1268 shewing the bracket for carrying the front end of the battery, strengthened up against longitudinal load by carrying the flange right round the bolt eye instead of finishing off with a somewhat ragged curve just where the longitudinal stresses are. It is thought that this modification will give the necessary strength without increasing the gauge though we have no objection to the gauge going up one if it is preferred. We also shew a method of stopping the bolt from turning so that it can be pulled up with the lid{A. J. Lidsey} in position and so avoid the danger of shorting the battery with a spanner.
