B.80 ENGINE IN B.38 CHASSIS - WATER CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ENGINE AND RADIATOR. Please receive herewith :- E.CD.1238 Top Water Pipe - B.80 engine in B.38 chassis. This design shows the modifications necessary to the water inlet connection on the radiator top tank to enable a hose coupling to be fitted which will give the required clearance with the fan on the engine. The original connection shown on FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} drawing made it impossible to obtain a clearance between the fan and the connecting hose to engine. Will Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} please hold up the making of the radiator so that the modified inlet connection can be included before delivery from the makers. The bottom water connection and also the radiator bottom tank should be the same as designed for the Wraith 80 chassis and is shown on E.CD.1021, this revised bottom tank should also be included in the B.38 radiator at present being made. The water outlet cover on thermostat casing on engine is modified and is now fixed with set screws instead of studs to facilitate the assembly and removal of rubber hose. Will you please detail and instruct the alterations as soon as possible, so that Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} can instruct the release of the modified radiator. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
