Dear Sirs,

We have been experiencing trouble with a ring rubber which is moulded to metal on both the inner and outer diameters. The rubber has been coming loose from the inner metal member. This we imagine is due to the contracting of the rubber after moulding.

We believe that your method used for silent bloc rubbers enables the rubber to have a continual tendency to increase in outside diameter and decrease in inside diameter, thus giving superior contact to the metal parts.

We attach a print, N.Sch.4531, showing the type of arrangement which we require. There is a washer 'A' which can be fastened to the outer metal piece 'B' after the rubber has been fitted. We should like to make the inner ring 'C' from brass if possible as it is free to slide on a steel member.

Will you please let us know if you think you can fit a satisfactory rubber in N.Sch.4531. If so we will send you the necessary metal parts.

We should also be very interested to have a complete description of your method of fitting these rubbers, as some of our rubber manufacturers are not giving entire satisfaction.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
