11021 27th May, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.4/RH.{R. Hollingworth} The Empire Rubber Company, D U N S T A B L E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Beds. Dear Sirs, Since writing our letter of even date to you, we have received two lengths of door seal which you put in hand for us some time ago. One of these has a live rubber skin, the other is sponge rubber only. The live rubber skin is much thicker than the sample piece which you sent us some time ago and has hardened up the section. Also it is considerably larger than the small sample of velvet covered sponge rubber which we sent to you for size. Actually, to replace the velvet covered seal, it would be an advantage for the section you are making to be slightly undersized rather than oversized, the rubber section tends to harden it up which will make it offer more resistance to the doors. We are enclosing a cutting of your section with the live rubber section and another piece of the sponge rubber covered velvet, so that you may see the difference in size. We shall be glad to have your comments and to know why you sent the length of sponge rubber without the skin. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, | ||
