The Empire Rubber Company,
D U N S T A B L E, Beds.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of May 26th, with reference to sponge rubber door seal to our drawing RB.{R. Bowen}18010. We are glad to know that you consider this an excellent alternative to the section which has proved to be unsatisfactory for manufacture.

Will you please put some sample lengths of the new section in hand at once. We will ask our Purchasing Department to send you our official order for same.

The lengths required are :-

4 lengths 120" long.
4 " 24" "
1 length 72" "
1 " 40" "
1 " 54" "

We note your remarks regarding the live rubber skin and that you consider that it will only be necessary for the domed surface to be covered. As shown on the drawing, the rubber section fits snugly into the metal channelling but as there is a possibility that on production the rubber would not fit so well as shown on the drawing, there is a chance that water might get into the sides of the sponge. We think that it would be advisable for the live skin to be extended round the sides unless it presents some difficulty in manufacture, in which case, we should be prepared to try it with the top only covered.
