X459 X7771 We find on looking up our records that the petrol consumption of our last 10,000 miles car averages about 10.5 miles per gallon when the car was driven at average speeds of 42 m.p.h. We consider that if the car was driven at a fixed speed of 30 m.p.h. with a minimum of acceleration and decceleration the consumption would be something approaching 15 miles to the gallon. Violent acceleration is the worst possible thing for petrol con-sumption. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
