RE DYNAMOS

Next week will do for your visit here with reference to car dynamos, but I hope you will have the necessary particulars, especially the ohmic resistance of the armature and the field coil of the Smith and Lucas dynamos.

We have to-day sent a drawing shewing the modifications we suggest should be made to the Lucas dynamo at once. We should like to see spring washers and plain washers put on all these connections so that in the case of the shrinking of the fibre or insulation the nuts would not come off. If they will follow our advice you will see that no electrical connections are made except between metal contacts, in such a way that the shrinking of the insulation will not cause the electric contacts to fail.
