X. 3362. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to BJ. EFC5/T7.2.18. Handwritten notes: X3362, X.4 36, X3560, X3762 X.3231.-BIJUR DYNAMO & REGULATOR. We have now removed the Bijur dynamo and regulator set from the Packard car, and we find this set to be essentially the same electrically as the set we have been running on 49GB. There are, however, one or two points of difference as regards the disposition of the various parts, and one or two very slight mechanical differences in the regulator. The controlling and regulating apparatus is complete in itself and is very easily removed from, and replaced on the dynamo without having to take off the dynamo end plates as in the case of the set belonging to 49GB. Moreover, the regulator unit is decidedly more suitable for observing the operation, being neatly packed into a small aluminium box in such a way that practically everything can be seen while in operation in position on the dynamo. In order to run this dynamo separate from the car, it will be necessary to make a bearing, as in the car, this bearing is built in the gear wheel case. This we are instructing. We therefore propose that we should send this set from the Packard to Mr. Royce when we have fixed up the necessary resistances and made the necessary adjustments to run this as a 12 volt system. At the same time we propose replacing the other Bijur set on 49GB. Perhaps Mr. Royce would let us know the size of pulley he would require on this dynamo, or the size and speed of the driving pulley on the engine which (Contd). | ||
