X1166 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}8/MJ.13.8.36. REAR AXLE - JACKING - TESTS. Comparison between Wraith 11 (Scott Model) and P.111 Rear Axles. In each case the axle - without gears or shafts - was supported at each end, and loaded at the centre, with the differential box set in its normal position - i.e. the cover faces of the Wraith inclined at 42° to the vertical, and the P.111 vertical. The deflections under gradually increasing loads up to 4000 lb. maximum are given in the attached graphs. The full curve of "permanent set" is given for the P.111 (of which measurements were only taken on the central casing) whilst the contour of "permanent set" at maximum load only is given for the Wraith 11 - further particulars of the latter are available if required.
