GEORGE ANGUS & CO., LTD. OIL SEAL DEPARTMENT. CONTINUATION SHEET you were to order in larger quantities. However, we later received your Order No.51136 for 100 Buffers, and to produce these we put in hand a Mould, the cost of which was in the region of £3.0.0., but for which no charge was made. This Mould could still be used for the production of samples in a softer grade of material, and we should be pleased to supply these free of charge, if you require them. In view of the expense incurred in manufacturing the Mould, we regret that we cannot accept cancellation of your Order No.51136, and we have no doubt that we shall be able to supply you with satisfactory supplies when the correct hardness has been determined by test. As regards the last paragraph of your letter, we note that you are using Buffers of 'Neoprene' material with a hardness of 40 - 45 Shore, and that these are not moulded and cost considerably less than our 'Gaco' material. We would inform you that we can undertake to supply these Bushes cut from 'Gaco' extruded tubing in the hardness specified, and that these would be somewhat cheaper than mouldings, though naturally they could not be produced to such a high degree of accuracy in dimensions as the latter. As you have not asked us to quote you for bulk supplies of these Bushes, you have not had the opportunity of comparing our quantity price with that for the 'Neoprene' material, and whereas we cannot always attempt to compete in price with material such as natural rubber and some other synthetic compounds, owing to the higher cost of production of 'Gaco' material, we think that if you will kindly give us the opportunity to quote you the quantity price, we shall be able to offer you something more favourable. We think that having read our above remarks, you will agree that further tests could be conducted on our material with advantage, and we look forward to hearing from you in this connection at your early convenience. Yours faithfully, GEORGE ANGUS & Co. LTD. A.{Mr Adams} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} BECK MANAGER, OIL SEAL DEPT. | ||
