P.III Complaints contd:

Petrol Pumps

Depots report that the high pressure pump is a cure for vapour lock troubles, but complaints were made that in some cases they were noisy when the car was stationary in traffic. This is contrary to the experience of the Experimental Dept. and they are going to investigate the complaint.

Clutch Jaggers

Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} and Sr. say that the new compound cushion plate hasnot been entirely satisfactory in reverse gear.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} will investigate a car on which this trouble has been experienced.

Over oiling

The close clearance inlet valves have proved to be a cure for this trouble.

Wear of bottom tappets

The bad wear of these after some 10,000 miles running is causing serious concern. The Experimental Dept. are to investigate the trouble and make recommendations.

It is hoped that bottom tappet wear will disappear when we drop hydraulic tappets.

Steering wobbles and joggles.

We have not yet had sufficient experience to say whether or not the latest type of spring effects a permanent cure for low speed wobbles.

Sr. says that joggles are the worst complaint on P.III from his point of view.
