Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/LS.1/T27.10.37 contd: -3- P.III Complaints contd: Steering wobbles and joggles contd: He. said it was reasonable to take the attitude that if continental drivers required a high geared steering they could not expect to be entirely immune from wheel kicks, and Sr. explained that that was the standpoint he had taken with his customers. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said Experimental Dept. have no cure for joggles which can be applied to cars with the present type of suspension linkages. Transmission rattles on starting. Depots report that the new gear box stay is a cure for gear box rattles. Broken differential casings. The pieces for replacing the differential casings on the 34 cars still remaining with the original type have now been issued to Depots, and a Depot Sheet is being drawn up instructing the modification. Starter button pig tails No supply of the new pig tails has yet been issued to Depots, and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} says that he has had no instructions to do so. Big end bearings It was reported that the cost of converting the fork rod bearings on a customers P.III to A.C.6 would be £14.12. 6. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will supply Paris with a set of these bearings to run in their demonstration car. Broken dumb bell in front brake mechanism Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} were concerned that the modifications to customers cars were not being pressed forward, despite the fact that they had previously given a ruling that they should be regarded as a safety first job. | ||
