Continued testing instructions for B.24, Phantom No.3 Unit, and B.9, involving part fitting and performance tests.

B.24. continued.

(1) Die cast A.C.6. main bearings.
(2) New A.C.6. big ends with single hole feed to connecting rods.
(3) Crank (Hykro) with 2 - 1/8 holes in each crank pin.
(4) Std.30 HP. camshaft.

Running in for above new parts to be carried out.

Power curve open exhaust and with std. Bentley silencer (.008" tappet clearance hot setting.) Run 1 hour oil consumption at 4000 r.p.m. Check slow running with (.008 tappet clce.).

Tune up unit generally and note whether timing gears are quiet.

No.5.Bed.

Phantom No.3.Unit

Following bounce test with raised valve gear (6 port head)
Fit 'Continental' cylinder heads (4 ports) ex No.8.Unit.
Run power curves with open exhaust and with silencer.
Run 2 hours endurance for Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. with special fan.
Fit 4 port heads ex No.9. unit and repeat curves, open exhaust and with silencer.
Fit LeC.5401 (E.88760) camshaft at the same time fit the tappets ex No.6. unit which had been run with Hi-press oil.
Continental cylinder heads to be re-fitted and check power open exhaust and with silencer.
Careful record of conditions which figures are taken also cylinder head capacities, comp..ratio etc.

Continue oil consumption tests.
