(1) 2 hours running in trial 500 - 1000 R.P.M. on Hi-press oil with existing cleaned up tappets and chrome plated tappets. Removal and inspection after above. (2) During the above 2 hours try to determine which valves are noisy and which quiet. (3) check valve lift diagram on quiet valve also noisy valve. (4) Drain off Hi-press oil and refill with standard oil. (5) Extra keyway has been cut in camshaft to enable 6° variation of timing. Power curves open exhaust and with std. 30.HP. silencer at 3 timings i.e. 6° early, normal and 6° late. During high speed running check actual speed at which valves start to bounce. (6) By the time the above are complete the Chevrolet type of tappets will be ready for trial. New camshaft to be fitted in conjunction with new tappets. B.19 Continue endurance up to 50 hours duration i.e. 25 hours full throttle and 25 hours ¼ load. Unit to be then removed and returned to Shpp for Inspection B.24. This unit to follow B.19 on the bed.
