of carrying.

In putting these wires in position we think
that one end is always inserted first in the groove and
the remainder of the ring is gradually fed in. On this
assumption the temporary increase of load during assembly
brings the total load up to about 14 lbs, but as we have
found the load has to exceed 16 lbs. to cause any permanent
set the figure to which we have put up the Bensport circlip
seems quite permissible, and as pointed out in the previous
paragraph the wire is of such a temper that it will
automatically take care of itself.

We shall hear in due course the result of
running with increased set on the Bensport, and we see no
reason why the same circlip should not be used on the 20/25.

With regard to the other engines using this
device, we are sending some modification through for Peregrine
as we believe on this engine a reduction in the gauge of the
wire itself is desirable.

We are also looking into the same question
on Phantom 2 to see if any alteration is desirable.
