Frames and Fittings continued

brackets and the corresponding body brackets fouled the tyres on corners, the noise being audible in the car.

Ex.26073 25/30.HP. Rear Engine Suspension on Wraith.

This has not sufficient restraintover fore and aft or latteral movements of the rear end of the unit. Either other means of controlling both these movements, or a mounting which will by itself serve that function is required.

LeC.5150 Rear Axle Buffers.

The buffers received heavy use with the failure of the damper link connecting arms, but showed no weakness.

Front Apron LOP.FW.737

The points at the outer ends of the front downward extention of the apron fouled the bumper bar brackets. These points do not show and should be deleted.

Rear Road Springs LOP.FW.764

LeC.5442 Revised rear dumb irons and Rear Shackles.

The shackles were free from knocks and no excessive side play developed.

Ex.27955 Spring Pad rep. FW.1030 and Ex.27956/7 Levers rep. FW.10/1/2 Levers pegged and welded.

The pegging and welding failed on both levers after 4500 miles. New parts were fitted and run 2000 miles without failure.

Woodhead Springs.

The fit of the leaves under normal load was very poor when examined at the end of the mileage and the top leaves had taken a reverse set at each end.

Steering Column and Box LOP.FW.927 E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} type.

Steering column shake was experienced, until the engine movements were controlled by torque reaction rubbers mounted low down, which appeared to effect a 90% cure of the trouble.
