342. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Phantom III Rear Damper Connecting Tube and Rear Roll Rod Connecting Tube. We have been asked to reduce the long bore in the connecting tubes for the rear roll rod and rear damper of Phantom III, F89111, and F.89105 respectively, from .250+5 to .218+5 in order that the boring tool for the Bentley and Phantom III connecting rods may be used for this operation, so effecting a reduction in cost. As the reduction of the hole merely strengthens the piece we see no reason why this should not be done, and we should be glad if you would instruct the modification.
