ENGINE AND GEARBOX UNDERSHIELD.

We send you herewith five drawings Nos. LeC.1892 to 1896 inclusive, dealing with the above.

You will find when dealing with these that certain points will require settling up with reference to the model, but we have given enough information to fix the design.

A defect of the present 40/50 gearbox undersheet we believe is that it is rather difficult to get up and down, being wider than the tie rods on the chassis. We have avoided this by running side strips along the bottom of the frame.

The type of undershield shewn is that for EAC.2. having the starter motor on the engine. For chassis built with the starter motor on the gearbox, as the first EAC.2 chassis will be, slight modifications will be required, but the problem will be simpler. These should be carried out in Derby.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
