DECISIONS ARRIVED AT AT THE CONFERENCE HELD AT THE MIDLAND HOTEL 16/6/20.
--------------------------------------------
(1) REPAIR OF BEDEVILLED CARS.

It was decided at the above conference that this type of repair should be divided into two types (a) dangerous, and (b) non-dangerous.

(a) With regard to dangerous bedevilled cars coming into the Works for repair, it was decided that first of all a technical committee must decide as to whether the car is in a dangerous state or not. If this committee decides that the car is in a dangerous state, the Repair Dept. must then write the owner that the car is dangerous and offer to make this car safe, and at the same time inform him of cost of these alterations. If the customer refuses, we on our part refuse to touch the car at all, and at the same time send him a registered letter that we do not hold ourselves responsible at all in the future for the safety of that chassis.

(b) In the case of non-dangerous chassis, the Repair Dept. will write the owner and inform him that parts of his car are not of R.R. make and try and persuade him to have these parts replaced by proper R.R. parts. In case he refuses we will carry out repairs on the systems of his car which have not been bedevilled, but will not touch the systems which have been. Also, when we send him his final receipt we will place a rubber stamp across it stating that certain very important repairs recommended by R.R. have not been carried out.

(2) NEW REPAIR DEPARTMENT SCHEME.

CJ. decided to place the proposition for the new Repair Dept. in front of the Board today, 17/6/20. He also asked Mr. Cowen to place such an additional price on new chassis that the cost of this new Repair Dept. and the Cricklewood Repair Dept. should be recovered in two years.

(3) MALLEABLE CASTINGS.

Mr. Whitehead has written to Fletcher's Malleable Foundries Ltd. asking them if they will undertake to supply all our requirements of these castings for the next twelve months, with the option to us to continue this arrangement for a further twelve months. At present we have got an estimate from Fletchers which is satisfactory, and which we have accepted.
