P28 A.D.M./CS 15.11.38 REPORT ON TESTS CARRIED OUT TO DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATION OF THE CORROSION INHIBITOR IN [illegible] MIXTURE. The following corrosion tests have been carried out on specimens of various materials in a solution of 30% Ethylene Glycol in water containing corrosion inhibitor. 1. Mild Steel. 2. Copper. 3. Brass. 4. Solder. 5. Aluminium Alloy D.T.D. 424 6. Cast Iron. Test pieces of the above materials were immersed for 500 hours in the coolant mixture, which was maintained at a temperature of 70°C, and aerated throughout the test. RESULTS. After the test, the specimens were cleaned and re-weighed. The change in weight is given below:- Material Change in weight mgs/sq.cm. 1. Mild Steel -0.01 2. Copper -0.02 3. Brass +0.02 4. Solder -0.01 5. Alum. Alloy DTD.424 +0.01 6. Cast Iron -0.05 The results show that the inhibitor is quite satisfactory. [Illegible Signature] CHEMICAL LABORATORY. | ||
