With reference to Hnl/AH.7.6.38. giving the projected weights of the proposed Wraith bodies, working from past experience we have made the following estimation of what 6/7 seater Pullman Limousine Wraith cars are likely to weigh. We had three experimental 25/30's in the department, and these weighed respectively:- 18.G.IV = 37. 0. 18 19.G.IV = 37. 1. 17 GAR.20 = 38. 1. 21 which average out a 37.62 cwts. 6 production 25/30 cars average out a 40.66 cwts., in other words, production cars have a habit of coming out heavier than experimental cars to the extent of about 3 cwts. The two experimental Wraith Limousines so far built weigh as follows:- 24.G.VI = 40.5 29.G.VI = 40.25 If history repeats itself, therefore, we might expect production Wraiths - similar in type to these two cars - to weigh over 43 cwts, i.e., 3 cwts more than the prototypes. However, it is proposed that they should have 2" more body room, and also built-in luggage space. Furthermore, we understand there is every possibility of having steel wings and running boards which add another ½ cwt. to the weight of the car. We, therefore, suggest that production Pullman Limousine Wraiths are almost certain to weigh between 43½ and 44½ cwts. We appreciate that the 25/30 never has sold on performance, and that on this particular type of car acceleration is a matter of secondary importance. It is, however, quite certain that, under the circumstances outlined, | ||
