To Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Continental P.III.
Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

I went down to Barker's yesterday and saw the complete car which I expect by now is up at Derby.

I have not heard yet the weight result but hope shortly to have the figures which Mr. Munro said they were going to agree with your people when they came to fetch the car.

I was very much surprised to hear you say the other day that it would be at least two months after you received the car before it could be ready to go to France because I had in mind that several months ago Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} was saying that the chassis would be ready before the coachwork.

This is borne out, I find, by Minutes of a chassis conference as long ago as last November.

The engine, I know, was on test months ago and the results were reported to be very good. The chassis did not actually go to Barker's until January.

It has, therefore, been away two months and in view, therefore, of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s previous statements and the time you have had in which to finish the units, I cannot understand at present why a further two months should be necessary and should be glad if you could explain.

LATER.

I find that Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/R18.12.36 says that 'when the chassis returns from Barker's we shall require two to three weeks to fit the correct unit and finish it off.'
