| X35D Exptl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}3/JH. 24th January, 1936. The Adamant Engineering Co., Ltd., Dallow Road., Luton. For the attention of Comdr. Matravers. Dear Sirs, We are returning to you under separate cover the three roller followers, your No. M.21521, which you supplied to us recently. There appears to be a very large machining error in the angle of the two inner tracks which bear against the cam. Will you please either correct them, or replace with new rollers. The trouble was not discovered until the rollers were being assembled in a steering, so you will appreciate that we are held up until we get correct rollers. We are making some heading in overcoming the steering joggle on the Ph. III although our experiments are not yet complete. However we hope to know the whole story soon and will then let you know all about it. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LTD. | ||
