1021 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.4/ET. 4th November, 1940. Messrs. Wilmot-Breeden, Ltd., Eastern Works - Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM 1. Attention of Mr. Spicer. Dear Mr. Spicer, We have just come up against a new snag with your new lock. Mr. Robotham has had this particular car in use for a few days and complained that he had difficulty in opening the door. On trying it, I found that it was necessary to use all my weight to open it. When a little oil had been applied to the top surface of the dovetail, the door opened quite easily. Before this was applied, the metal appeared to be quite free from grease of any sort, but it had some water in it. You will probably say: "Well keep some oil on the lock", but with a rather large surface such as your new lock has, anyone wearing delicate clothes might very easily get them stained. Regarding the other sample lock which you have for us, I have had enquiries as to when this is going to be fitted, so if you are not coming along to see us in the near future, I should be obliged if you could send it by post. Yours faithfully, | ||
