Bentley Axle Ratio.

Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KT.17.6.33, according to our method of working it out the stress in the 11/43 gear is slightly higher than that in the 10/41 gear. The increase is about 5%.

We consider that it is not worth troubling about and that there is no objection to the adoption of the 11/43 gear.

Below is a table of the stresses and loads as we estimate them:-

| | Bensport 10/41 ratio. | Bensport 11/43 ratio. | Peregrine 9/46 ratio. |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Stress. 1st speed. lbs/in2 | 125,500 | 131,700 | 133,750. |
| Stress. top gear. lbs/in2 | 45,600 | 47,800 | 40,500. |
| Load/inch of face of gear 1st speed. lbs/in | 6300 | 6060 | 5365. |
| Load/inch of face of gear, Top gear, lbs/ins | 2288 | 2203 | 1627. |
