To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} x 202 Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/HP 13.7.33. C.c. for. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} See me HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Bensport Rear Axle. Referring to the axle shafts which have twisted, it is understood that these are not in the latest material, that is, they are Nickel Casehardening Steel instead of Chrome Casehardening Steel. The change in the material may be sufficient improvement in strength to obviate the necessity of any increase of the diameter. Should this not be so, it appears that the diameter could be increased .0625, representing a drop in stress of 20% and an increase in stiffness of 27 1/2%. This is indicated on the accompanying N. Sch.3779. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
