-2- Expl. work is still in progress with a view of an 100% job. The larger design of fabric coupling will be incorporated with the new design of gearbox. This complaint should steadily decrease. Item (5) Steering. The improvements to the shock absorbers in hand will improve the steering. The loss of lead on the cross steering tube ball ends has been dealt with and depot sheets are being issued dealing with the over tightening of the ball contact sleeve to prevent binding effect. Item (6) Clutches. There is nothing further to report. The improved clutch lining and riveting are at the moment giving satisfactory results. Item (7) Exhaust Troubles. 20.HP. These have been dealt with, there is no further progress. 25.HP. A failure of the manifold has been taken up with S.W., modifications are to be tried out. Phantom II. Silencer. Present production has new sliding joint on the 25.HP. this cures the pushing back of the silencer and lessens cracking noises when cooling down. Depots are being instructed re the fitting of this joint to recurrent complaints. Phantom I exhaust manifold failures are being dealt with by W.W. Modifications to the design have been received. These will shortly be tried out and immediately better results are obtained, notice will be given to Depots. Item (8) Slipper Drives. The slipper drive modifications are giving more consistent results on production cars. There is nothing further to report. Item (9) Overheating. Boiling. Expl. work is in progress with radiators having a deeper matrix, and matrix tubes having 8 dents to procure better circulation of the air. These with the improved non-spillable radiator cap should lessen the complaint. Rubber fan belts are now standard. Item (10) Ignition coils. X:8742 The present coil is giving more satisfactory results and complaints should be reduced in the future. | ||
