c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 804 CONFIDENTIAL. BY.1/N. 15th.November 1938. Messrs.Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Experimental Proofs of the B.50 Body Costs. You are aware that we have suggested that you might obtain dies for one front wing, and one front door of B.50, or some other car in order to demonstrate both to yourselves, as well as ourselves, that the costs projected for the B.50 body can be achieved. We have delayed in taking this step for several reasons, chief of which has been the lack of design finality of the B.50 body. Having now settled the method of producing the Six and Four Light bodies from common dies except for the rear quarter, and so arrived at the die cost involved we have produced designs PD.279 and PD.280 based on these assumptions. We are now prepared to say that we will accept the risk of producing dies for one front wing and one front door, to these designs. We do not anticipate any modification to these parts. As approximately three months are required for making the dies, it will be mid February before they are ready. If we push ahead with the mock-up, we should be able to see quite a lot of it prior to the actual casting of the dies. Cont'd..... | ||
